Flying Fox Running
Flying Fox running has been set up by running dork Nathan Gardiner with a lot of help from Pippa Howarth and Gary Stickley. Nathan is not amazingly quick or someone who runs amazingly far, but someone with a real passion for running and a love of the science behind it. Nathan is a part of Yeovil Town RRC. He is a UK Athletics accredited running coach (CiRF), has been running a hill running group for the last several years and now takes one in three of clubs main track training sessions and now also leads the Tuesday night training group. These club sessions are open to non members.
The aim of Flying Fox Running is to bring new exciting races and events to the South West starting with two new night races. Our events are open to all abilities of runners, there are generous cut off times and we want our events to be fun and inclusive events that can welcome all runners.
We’re starting with multi terrain races at night, but future events could be of almost any type; possibly even road PB courses or 24hr events.
Why Flying Fox Running? Because foxes are cool! They nimbly run through our Great British countryside and now increasingly our towns and cities. Also makes a good logo and you want a logo that will look good on medals!

Pre Race Runs
Keep your eye on social media for free runs in the race areas before each race. If you’re nervous about running at night or off road these are great opportunities to gain some confidence before the race. Places will be limited as obviously past a certain number groups become a bit unwieldy. We will do regrouping and if popular try and create multiple pace groups.
Fun on Hills & More
Nathan, the Race Director, regularly runs hill interval sessions through the local club Yeovil Town RRC. These are open to all runners including from outside of the club. Read more about it on the runs page.
He also now leads the clubs Tuesday training group and is a part of the coaching setup for the Friday night track sessions. Non club members are welcome and encouraged at all these sessions.

LOVED tonight's hill rep session. I might not have looked like I was enjoying it but it was great. Nathan Gardiner had us running up steps, running around ham hill then running up and down two big hills! Not sure my legs will like me much tomorrow but I feel great! Thanks Nathan and co. Especially for the encouragement whilst I was trying my hardest not to trip up the steps!!!!
