Races for Everyone
Virtual Abbotsbury Races
Since the pandemic is stopping us running the real event we’re running a virtual one as an alternative.
We have the daylight 5 and 7k race with the circular medals. As well as the swan medals for the evening 6.5 and 13k race evening races. Because of the various restrictions in place to put it simply all you have to do is enter and then send us the proof you’ve run at least the event distance at a time and place of your choosing. Then we’ll post out your medal once we’ve received them (probably late April with all the crazy happening atm).
If you’ve already entered you should have got an email from us so this is more aimed at people who hadn’t entered yet.
This is followed by the Eventide Races, two races – 6 or 12k, 1 or 2 laps. These races will be starting just before sunset and head torches are needed. This route takes on St Catherine’s chapel. A hill top chapel with amazing views of the coast and village of Abbotsbury.
Choose your race!
Virtual Wych Woods
Since storm Dennis and the pandemic interefered with the race forcing us to postpone the original race and then probably putting others off attending the revised date we’re giving an oppurtunity to earn the remaining medals we have.
We have 3 distances, the 4 and 7k with the purple medal and 10k with the blue medals. Because of the various restrictions in place to put it simply all you have to do is enter and then send us the proof you’ve run at least the event distance at a time and place of your choosing. Then we’ll post out your medal once we’ve received them (probably late April with all the crazy happening atm).
£2 from each entry will go to the World Health Organisations Covid 19 relief fund.
This aimed at those who held off entering or who deferred or had a refund after the February date was postponed. If you had a race entry for March but held off attending for what ever reason contact us seperately if you’d like to do this virtual challenge as we’re happy to post medals to you for £4 to cover postage and packaging.
Welcome to our virtual nightjar event! We decided to do this one inline with the Nightjars time in the UK so will run from May till the end of August.
These will use our fantastic and intricately designed medals from our Nightjar races. We will be ordering new ribbons for them though to denote the event from the 2018 and 2019 races.
You just need to run 5 or 9 miles between the events start and finish and prove to use you’ve completed it (full guidance on that will be published before the events start date). Please respect whichever social distancing requirements may be in place.
We’ll also donate £1 to the RSPB and £1 to the Devon Pebblebed Heaths Trust for each entry to hopefully help safeguard the future of these fantastic visitors to our shores.
